The Library staff works very closely with the Research and Writing Program to insert Lexis and Westlaw training into the 1st Year curriculum. One of the program’s course requirements is the mandatory 90 minute Westlaw training session each 1st Year Student must take during October, 2006. Another is the mandatory 90 minute LexisNexis training session each 1st Year Student must attend early in the Spring, 2007 semester.
Lexis Access Codes and Westlaw passwords contracts were distributed in your orientation packets handed out during First Week. Before being able to sign on to the Lexis Research System or Lexis Web Courses you must use the Lexis Access Code to create a Custom Lexis User Name and Password. The instructions for doing this come with the Access Code. Before being able to sign on to the Westlaw Research System or the Westlaw TWEN web courses, you must register your Westlaw Password. Registration instructions come with the password.
While the required Lexis and Westlaw sessions are taught by the professional staff of the Mendik Library, any and all questions regarding the need to take training, the penalties for not taking training and the like must be addressed to Professors Cathy Glaser and David Epstein of the Writing Program.
