Family Law Journal — Editorial Staff
The Family Law Quarterly (FLQ) is the American Bar Association Family Law Section’s scholarly journal. It is dedicated to publishing articles written by legal academics and practitioners about important and timely legal issues for family law practitioners, judges, professors, and more.
In this co-curricular course, NYLS students are responsible for editing and source-checking each article that is selected for publication in the FLQ. They are also responsible for researching and updating charts of state family law-related statutes and writing summaries of new state family law legislation. This course will help students hone their skills in editing, grammar, research, drafting, and citation. It will also help them develop leadership skills. All students will attend a student-led seminar that will review relevant family law concepts, legal research, editing, citation, and other skills related to FLQ participation.
