Wilf Impact Center Conversations is a speaker series that highlights how current events impact civil rights and civil liberties.

In 2014, a group of students from Ayotzinapa Rural Teachers’ College in Guerrero, Mexico, had a confrontation with Mexican law enforcement, resulting in the forcible disappearance of 43 students. They remain missing today. This event created a rupture between Mexican society and all levels of Mexican government.

Join us for an insightful discussion with Omar Gómez Trejo, the former special prosecutor who led the investigation into the disappearance of the students. Mr. Gómez Trejo will share his experiences uncovering the truth behind this tragic event, the challenges he faced in pursuing justice amidst political interference, and his ongoing efforts for justice in Mexico. This conversation offers a unique opportunity to understand the complexities of human rights investigations and the pursuit of justice in cases involving state and organized crime collusion. The conversation will be moderated by Professor Claire R. Thomas ’11, NYLS Asylum Clinic Director.

This event is co-sponsored by the Asylum Clinic.
