Transitional Justice Network

The Transitional Justice Network promotes global discourse among students, scholars, and professionals on issues of transitional justice. The Network serves as a forum where students can learn about issues in the field, scholars can link with other scholars working in similar areas, and professionals can keep up to date with trending thoughts and philosophies.

Every academic year, Professor Ruti Teitel convenes cross-cutting sessions on the latest topics and theories regarding transitional justice, inviting transitional justice practitioners and academics from around the world to present their new research. Students, alumni, faculty, and practitioners from the larger New York area are welcome to attend these dialogues.

International Economic Law Discussion Group

The International Economic Law Discussion Group is co-sponsored and co-convened by Professor Ruti Teitel. The Group meets approximately twice a semester to discuss contemporary issues in international law and economics, such as new directions in the World Trade Organization and its Appellate Body, new frontiers regarding NAFTA (the North American Free Trade Agreement), and current issues regarding Investment Courts, to name a few.

New York City International Economic Law Working Group

The Institute also co-directs the New York University-New York Law School International Economic Law Working Group of scholars, policymakers, judges, and practitioners. During the academic year, the Working Group meets monthly to discuss issues relating to international economic law.

Lectures and Publications

The faculty and fellows of the Institute publish scholarship and present their research worldwide at lectures, conferences, and other events in the United States and abroad. The Institute convenes two C.V. Starr Lectures annually in collaboration with the Center for International Law.

Other Projects

The Institute is involved in a number of projects with the American Society of International Law (ASIL). Professor Ruti Teitel is the Co-Chair of ASIL’s Transitional Justice and Rule of Law Interest Group. The Institute is working with ASIL to prepare a Judicial Benchbook on International Law for U.S. judges, and former Professor Tai-Heng Cheng is contributing a chapter on international arbitration.
