Anatomy of New York State Divorce Action
This course guides students from initial interview through final argument in a New York divorce action. Students draft a complaint, examine a net worth statement, handle a preliminary conference, meet with forensic experts, and more. Working with a fact pattern, students learn about complex but critical issues involving forensics, financial statements, the legal effect of filing dates, the use of orders of protection, requests for exclusive occupancy, media concerns, and the like.
This course deals with the substantive and procedural laws and policy related to a divorce action in New York State. Students must timely complete assignments throughout the semester, and may be required to write a final paper.
