Fashion Law Practicum
The Fashion Law Practicum is a practice-based study of the various aspects of practicing fashion law. Students will learn what is involved in a practice for an attorney at a fashion company, from litigation to transactional counseling. Students will complete a series of drafting assignments, such as cease-and-desist letters, licensing agreements, a leases for a retail space, manufacturing and production agreements, employment agreements, consignment agreements, and trademark licensing arrangements (including for internet use). With remaining time, students will also have the opportunity to learn how to start a fashion house, from articles of organization and operating agreements for a limited liability company, to model release forms and website terms of use.
This upper-level skills course focuses on legal and business concerns faced by attorneys representing fashion companies as their general counsel or external counsel.
